What has been your highlight when skating with FVRG?

There are so many to choose just one! In 2014 the Parma Violents played against London Roller Girls’ Batter C Power; earlier this year I was part of a FVRG Sur5al team that came second place in the tournament; and most recently, I’ve seen the league really pull together in times of uncertainty so we can all keep participating in the sport that we love.

Who are your Derby Heroes?

When I first started skating with FVRG, I attended a Dundee open scrim where Alma Geddon (of ARRG at the time) took me under her wing. I was in awe of her talent – she later became a Team Scotland skater! – and the fact that she took the time to look out for me and make me feel welcome, so she will always be my Derby Hero.

What advice would you give to anyone interested in trying Roller Derby?

It doesn’t matter if you’ve never skated before or if you spent your childhood with wheels attached to your feet; if you’re super fit or don’t do much exercise – anyone can try roller derby. From the support you’ll receive to get you rolling, to the comraderie and team spirit you’ll experience on game day – it’s like nothing else you’ll ever experience. Look out for a taster session near you and give it a go!

How do you spend your time outside of FVRG?

By day, I’m a software developer for a footwear retailer – which means I spend a lot of my time programming applications for the store and Head Office staff, and buying shoes. I like to keep fit and active and regularly run in local events with Brawny Tyler and Camelon Diaz.
