17-05-12 - Fierce Valley Roller Girls Craft Emporium fundraiser 2012

Fierce Valley Roller Girls Craft Emporium fundraiser 2012 It is widely known in roller derby circles, us roller girls are a bit of an arty crafty bunch so after last years successful debut in hosting a Craft Fayre, Fierce Valley Roller Girls decided to host another craft event to help raise much needed funds to get to get the Parma Violents to Belfast in July.

Our fundraising committee got busy organising and preparing ‘The Craft Emporium’. The event was held in the Masonic Temple Lodge in Lint Riggs Falkirk on Saturday 28th April, which proved to be a successful central location to grab passers by.

We invited a wide range of crafters from the local and wider area to show off their talents and beautiful products, which included stunning jewellery by Artizania Jewellery, Catriona Dickson Designs, Jodie Pope Jewellery Designs and Hummahazey Scotland.

We had hand made cards represented by Fiona’s Handcrafted Cards and Phoenix Cards, beautiful ceramic artwork by Moka Pottery and intricate embroidered and patchwork delights by Silver Needle Designs. One of our crafters even travelled down from Crieff to spend the day with us and to showcase some of the Scottish arts and crafts from the shop An Cnoc.

Wendylicious Art had her first debut at our craft fayre with her stunning hand quilted corset wall plaques, as did Tots Treats who tempted us all with her glorious sweet-filled goodie bags. Finally a fellow roller derby skater from Glasgow Roller Girls from Faerychic Designs showcased her intricate butterfly wings.

Our final stalls were ran by our very own Linzi Grant of LMG Hair and Beauty who was offering glitter tattoos and Wee Zoomer with her vintage Dotty Betty stall which was a fitting representation for our emporium theme.

As well as our craft selection, Fierce Valley Roller Girls were out in force selling our own merchandise, promoting the Fierce Valley Roller Cubs and encouraging everyone to win prizes in our tombola and amazing raffle! Our on-skate flyer girls were also out on Falkirk High Street drumming up support on the day.

As with all successful events, a Fierce Valley fundraiser would not be complete without our famous cake table. Members of the league take this side of fundraising very seriously to provide delectable delights to our supporters and customers.
